Discovering the Beauty and History of the Getty Villa!

Having visited some of the most famous art galleries in the world, I thought it was time to visit another: the Getty Villa in Malibu.  The Getty Villa is a $5 million collection of Roman antiquities and works of art located in Malibu, California.  Rumors of this place reached my ears for the first time during my college years as an art student.  A few weeks ago I heard on the news that The J. Paul Getty Museum is returning several objects in its collection to Italy, their country of origin, after recent research determined they were stolen or illegally excavated.  I made up my mind that it was time to go visit!

View from the balcony!

I visited The Getty Villa a few weeks ago with G, Susie Q, and Kennedy. It's a spectacular place, with amazing architecture and eye-popping exhibits. If you've never been to the Getty Villa then my hope is that you can get an inside look at what goes on there.

The drive up to the Villa is absolutely breathtaking.

This view is truly stunning!

I loved all the plants in the courtyard.

It's not often that you can visit one of the world's great cultural sites, but with its breathtaking gardens and collection of sculptures, paintings, tapestries, and mosaics, this one should be on your 'must-see' list.  My favorite part was walking around.  It is such an incredible place.

These water lilies are incredibly beautiful!

It was an amazing experience!  I loved the Mediterranean Revival style, the courtyards surrounded by buildings and the gardens.  I hope to one day repeat again.  I want to give a big shoutout to Susie Q and Kennedy for planning this amazing adventure and for such awesome pictures.  Thank you wives!!

Best day with G!

NLP CLASS OF 2023 CLASS PROJECT - DIGNITY DONATION DRIVE

Hi Friends!! Last Saturday I hosted a special event at MacArthur Park on the corner of 14th and Gundry in Long Beach.  I am part of The Neighborhood Leadership Program that is offered by the City of Long Beach Housing and Neighborhood Services Bureau. Part of the program requires that we work in teams and host an event for the community.  Our assignment was to host a donation drive to collect donations for the homeless AKA our unhoused neighbors.  We partnered up with AOC7.  AOC7 stands for Anaheim, Orange, Cherry & 7th Streets. They are a neighborhood organization founded to improve the overall quality of life within our community.  The donation drive was a success, and I had a blast with my team!  Check out some pictures from the event!

THE HIVE GALLERY IN DOWNTOWN L.A.

It’s Thursday! So, you know what that means…new blog post and a new YOUTUBE video on my channel!!!  I am so excited about our upcoming album release:  Time to Riot by Heavenly Trip To Hell.  The album is going to be released later this month.  Also, our new music video is going to air very soon!  It’s called Tracy Died in Texas and I can’t wait to share it with you guys!!!!  Anyway, let’s get to today’s post.

I am a huge fan of art!  I have so much respect for people who put themselves out there and express themselves creatively.  I am always down to support local art!  We were recently invited to the Hive Gallery in Downtown L.A. for a massive art show.  We were invited by our friend Jesse Jacobellis and, it was actually three art shows going on at once.  There’s just something cool about going to art shows in L.A., but going to The Hive Gallery was quite special.  There was music, awesome people and lots and lots of art!  Check it out.  Click play on this video!

This was my first time at The Hive Gallery and I was so impressed. If you are ever in L.A. visiting, this gallery is a must.   They have a once a month art show.  From outside it looks like a small spot but there’s actually a ton of art to see and we definitely kept ourselves entertained. You should check it out.  You won’t regret it!

Thank you to Jesse Jacobellis for the invite.  I know we will be back soon!!!

MLK PARADE IN THE LBC

What's up?  I can't believe it's February 20th already!! Time is flying by!  As you all know, I host a TV show called Road Dogs TV where we promote art, culture and unity.  This year we were able to attend the MLK Parade in Long Beach and we were able to participate in it as well.  It was awesome!!

The MLK parade happens every year.    This year the parade was held on Saturday, January 18th. Big shout out to the City of Long Beach for putting events like this together for the community.  Especially for such a great person in history.

Martin Luther King was an activist and a leader in the Civil Rights Movement from 1955 until his assassination in 1968.  Civil rights are important because they protect our freedom.  They protect our rights in society and they protect us from discrimination.  We need more leaders like him today.

So, when we heard our application was accepted to be part of the parade we were ecstatic!  We rounded up the crew, jumped in our bad ass ride and had an awesome time!  The Hustle Holix were there and we met up with the guys from Local Hearts Foundation and In Your City News!  We took the opportunity to film some interviews and we met some very important people.   I was able to capture some footage of the parade.  Check out the video below! HIT PLAY!

Make sure to watch Road Dogs TV every Friday night at 11 p.m.  You can watch us on Verizon Frontier, channel 41, and Charter Spectrum channel 32.  Email us at RoadDogsTv@gmail.com.  We want to share your art!!!

I want to thank the entire Road Dogs TV crew and the Hustle Holix.  They did an amazing job.  Please continue to support local art and culture and unity in the community.

Thank you so much for checking out my blog today.  I love being creative and I love sharing my life with you guys.  I will never stop.  Be yourself, love your self.  Never stop dreaming.   I will see you next time!  xoxo

BIKE RIDE AROUND LONG BEACH!

I love riding my bike.  Especially on nice sunny days.  Long Beach is a beautiful city and we are so lucky that it has the best weather all year long!  Long Beach is also super bike friendly.  The city of Long Beach has really stepped it up with bike lanes and a stunning bike path along the beach.  My favorite ride is from my house, jumping on the canal all the way to the Belmont Pier.

I have been riding my bike all my life.  When I was a little girl my dad signed me up for summer school one year.  Since he couldn’t drive me to school, I had to learn to ride by myself.  The ride was from Chestnut and 15th all the way to 11th and Los Alamitos, to Lincoln Elementary.  That’s a pretty long ride.  Especially for a 4th grader!

Riding a bike is a great way to stay active.  It's great exercise and it's also good for mental health.  When I ride my bike I feel like I belong to the city.  I love seeing all the cool houses and nice gardens.  I love the fresh air.  It's never the same.  It's always a different adventure.

I try to ride my bike every chance I get.  I ride my bike to work during the week.  I ride my bike on Sunday mornings to get coffee and donuts.  I ride with friends.  It's a great way to see the city.

Check out this video of a fun Sunday bike ride with G, Yogie and Susie Q.   Hit play!

Make sure to catch Heavenly Trip To Hell this Friday night at the Rainbow! We're playing the Metal Mayhem anniversary party!  We are going to rock the house!  You are all invited.  Here's the flyer.
