An unforgettable weekend: Giving back, Celebrating with Family and Pure Rock and Roll!

What a weekend! From volunteering and beautiful family traditions to loud, live rock and roll, last weekend was a whirlwind in the best way possible. Here is how it all went down.

Giving Back with Local Hearts Foundation

My weekend started early with a deeply rewarding morning. I teamed up with the Local Hearts Foundation to volunteer at their annual backpack giveaway.

  • The Mission: Helping local kids get equipped and excited for the school year.
  • The Highlight: Handing out fresh backpacks and seeing the pure excitement and smiles on the faces of the kids and their families.
  • The Takeaway: There is truly no better way to kick off a weekend than by pouring love back into the community.

A Beautiful Family Quinceañera

Next, it was time to switch gears from community service to family celebration. We gathered together to celebrate a beautiful Quinceañera.

  • The Atmosphere: Filled with vibrant traditions, incredible food, delicious drinks, and family.
  • The Best Part: Being surrounded by family, sharing laughs, catching up, and meeting the newest addition to our family, my new nephew.  He turned 15 days old that day.  Awww!

Pure Rock N' Roll at Muela Madness Studios

Muela Madness Studios in North Hollywood.

The night was hosted by DJ Hollywood of KNAC.fm

To top it all off, I headed out for a night of pure, unadulterated rock and roll in North Hollywood. The show took place at Muela Madness Studios, an awesome underground rehearsal and recording spot with an incredible festival-style energy.

  • The Host: DJ Hollywood of the legendary KNAC.fm presented the entire night, keeping the "Pure Rock" spirit alive and well.
  • The Vibe: Loud guitars, heavy drums, an energetic crowd, and that raw, live music energy you can only find in LA's local scene.
It was a weekend of major contrasts—from volunteering, to family elegance, to a loud rock show—and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Discovering the Beauty and History of the Getty Villa!

Having visited some of the most famous art galleries in the world, I thought it was time to visit another: the Getty Villa in Malibu.  The Getty Villa is a $5 million collection of Roman antiquities and works of art located in Malibu, California.  Rumors of this place reached my ears for the first time during my college years as an art student.  A few weeks ago I heard on the news that The J. Paul Getty Museum is returning several objects in its collection to Italy, their country of origin, after recent research determined they were stolen or illegally excavated.  I made up my mind that it was time to go visit!

View from the balcony!

I visited The Getty Villa a few weeks ago with G, Susie Q, and Kennedy. It's a spectacular place, with amazing architecture and eye-popping exhibits. If you've never been to the Getty Villa then my hope is that you can get an inside look at what goes on there.

The drive up to the Villa is absolutely breathtaking.

This view is truly stunning!

I loved all the plants in the courtyard.

It's not often that you can visit one of the world's great cultural sites, but with its breathtaking gardens and collection of sculptures, paintings, tapestries, and mosaics, this one should be on your 'must-see' list.  My favorite part was walking around.  It is such an incredible place.

These water lilies are incredibly beautiful!

It was an amazing experience!  I loved the Mediterranean Revival style, the courtyards surrounded by buildings and the gardens.  I hope to one day repeat again.  I want to give a big shoutout to Susie Q and Kennedy for planning this amazing adventure and for such awesome pictures.  Thank you wives!!

Best day with G!

NLP CLASS OF 2023 CLASS PROJECT - DIGNITY DONATION DRIVE

Hi Friends!! Last Saturday I hosted a special event at MacArthur Park on the corner of 14th and Gundry in Long Beach.  I am part of The Neighborhood Leadership Program that is offered by the City of Long Beach Housing and Neighborhood Services Bureau. Part of the program requires that we work in teams and host an event for the community.  Our assignment was to host a donation drive to collect donations for the homeless AKA our unhoused neighbors.  We partnered up with AOC7.  AOC7 stands for Anaheim, Orange, Cherry & 7th Streets. They are a neighborhood organization founded to improve the overall quality of life within our community.  The donation drive was a success, and I had a blast with my team!  Check out some pictures from the event!
