MY HEAVENLY TRIP TO MEXICO CITY!

It feels like it was a dream. We went to Mexico City.  We were there for six days.  We did so much.  It went by so fast.  I love Mexico City.  I will never get tired of going back.  If you love art and music and great food, Mexico City is always a good idea!!!

Back in February, after filming a Road Dogs TV episode at PADNET STUDIOS the crew got together and we all went out to grab some food and drinks at a Mexican restaurant.  It was then that Jose and Nereyda both told us they were planning a trip to Mexico City.  They were planning to go celebrate Jose's birthday in May.  We all ate and drank and talked about how cool it would be if we could all go to Mexico City to celebrate with them, especially because May was also G's birthday month and Susie Q's birthday month!  That's when we decided it was going to happen.  We were going to make it happen!  Fast forward to May, we all got on a plane from LAX direct to Mexico City!!!

When we landed in Mexico City we took a taxi to our hotel, checked in, and hit the streets right away.  Mexico City is such a big city.  We stayed in La Zona Rosa (The Pink Zone).  La Zona Rosa is a neighborhood known for its shopping and nightlife.  It's also very central and easy to walk around.  We walked to El Angel de La Independencia (The Angel of Independence) and had dinner at Sanborns, a restaurant, retail, pharmacy and department store chain in Mexico.  They have my favorite Enchiladas Suizas (Swiss enchiladas).  Delicious!

The next day we went to visit El Castillo de Chapultepec.  El Castillo is a castle on top of a hill at el Bosque de Chapultepec, a forest in Mexico City, one of the largest city parks in the western hemisphere.  After that, we went to the Museum of Anthropology, the museum that houses the Aztec Calendar and the Aztec Xochipilli statue, the god of music.

The next day we went to El Zocalo, the main square in Mexico City.  Prior to the conquest of the Aztecs it was the main ceremonial center in the Aztec city of Tenochtitlan.  The main temple in Tenochtitlan, El Templo Mayor, was dismantled and a Spanish colonial city was built on top of it.  Today, you can see the temple of the Aztecs next to the cathedral.  There is a whole Aztec city underground at El Zocalo.  Today, the temple is a museum.

We also jumped on the metro that day for the first time.  A metro ticket costs 5 pesos, the lowest in the world.  It was a quick ride to get there.  On our way back, we walked back to our hotel to get a better view of the beautiful city!

The next day we rented a van and went to Teotihuacan.  The Aztecs believed that the gods created the universe at that site.  They also believed that this was the place where humans became gods.  We climbed up the temple of the sun and then the temple of the moon.

The next day we jumped on the metro again and we went to Coyoacan to Frida Kahlo's house.  I was not able to film there but I was able to take pictures.  I took so many pictures!  I love her house.  This is a definite must see.  This is the house where Frida lived as a little girl and it is also the house where she died.  Be on the lookout for a future post dedicated to this adventure.

Finally, on our last day, we took a double-decker tour bus ride around the whole city and we got to climb up El Angel de la Independencia.  Yes, you can actually climb it.  You just have to make a reservation and be on time.  The guard will let you go up for fifteen minutes.  There are a lot of stairs up a spiral staircase but the view is amazing!

And just like that, our trip was over.  It went by so fast!  We celebrated G's birthday month to the max! (All month long!).  Jose celebrated his birthday at Teotihuacan and Susie Q had her wish of going to Frida Kahlo's house come true.  What a great vacation.  Thank you G, Jose, Nereyda, Juan and Susie Q for doing such a good job with HTTH and Road Dogs TV and for coming along on this great adventure.   I love you all!

Here is the video blog!  Hit play and pump up the volume!  Song: "Drug Song Remix."  Music by Heavenly Trip To Hell.  By the way, HTTH will be playing at the Rainbow in Hollywood on June 16th to celebrate Mojo El Diablo's birthday!  Come out and party with us!
